Ruth Peebles would later marry John Rudolph “Rudy” Gossman Sr. and start her family in Homestead, Florida. Ruth would later take over what was left of the Peebles family estate in Goulds, Florida after her father Dudley Guilford Peebles died. Lucille was placed in a care facility in Homestead near Ruth.

Ruth had three children, Carol, Rosa and Randy.

I was told by my mother that Ruth mortgaged the Peebles property to a local famer in Goulds. The farmer failed to pay the county tax each year and the property was seized by the County of Miami-Dade, Florida. The county bulldozed the home and created a county park.

I have visited the park a few times, it’s simply an large open area where family’s can rent the space for family reunions. Below is a photo of the park today.
