Peebles, An American Family

Every family has a story and it usually begins in a land far from America. My mother’s family started with Captain David Peebles fleeing Fife, Scotland in 1649 under threat of death from the Crown. Captain Peebles had over 200 of his loyal soldiers with him, they landed in Virginia. Family members were able to leave Scotland and join them later. As time passed, the Peebles would settle in Mississippi, Virginia, North Carolina and then South Florida.

This webpage is not a history lesson. My mother’s family story does not have a fairytale ending, they have all passed away. My mother’s family survived the Indian Wars on the east coast, a Revolutionary War, a Civil War, two World Wars and in just under two decades during the 1970’s and 1980’s it would all end.

There are a few children and grandchildren left, I hope these photos find them.
